Welshmen have split personalities
I say this in full disclosure as the son of a Welshman.. Just back from Wales and the dark midlands of England. Spent some considerable time hurtling down roads in Wales, about 5-6 feet wide, stone walls on my left, lorries coming over the middle line on my right, dark, rainy, curvy, and welshmen riding my proverbial ass at 60 mph. I can't seem to get started on either, its more fun to wander around spinning time out. yay! Back from Boston, that's 4 states in 4 days, if you count layovers. Boston is full of my people! It's like a giant Portland with loads more Irish. And the mass-transit is to die for, though dr. me couldn't figure out how to pay for it. New roles, new me
It has now been a week since the UW got this giant grant (to which I contributed to the Informatics section) and a week since I suddenly became a "deputy director" of the Biomedical Informatics core. Man am I tired of waiting. So recently it was announced that the UW now receives in excess of 1 billion dollars in grant money a year, putting it at the top of public universities. iPhone acceptance
So I'd like a god-damn i-phone as much as the next guy, I would like to fiddle with it, perhaps try to develop on it, stare at it - but I am beginning to get annoyed by the perception that it's ease of use factor is all that it is hyped to be.
