So what does one >do< with a doctorate? I think I am suffering a little post-doctoral depression. First they make you take 3-4 years of classes, then they set you adrift on your own research, grill you like grand inquisitors, then they set you free again. What to do! -

well here is a fine thing
I am apparently suffering from a form of allodynia, a relatively pleasant name for @!)#(@#* pain that makes no sense. It also apparently a part of Reflex Sympathy Dystrophe Syndrome, something that can be brought on by injury. It is theoretically curable, by among other things hyperbarics, as well as meds and other more exotic ways.

I submitted my request for final exam today, which means that all 5 of my committee members grudgingly agree that my 235 page dissertation is at least passingly sufficient to allow me to elaborate on it in more detail in public.
