Just got a "Accept with minor revisions" for my first author paper to what is essentially the canonical journal for my field - JAMIA.

Problem? Have to revise it, and my dissertation all in the next 2 weeks.

Solution? stop thinking about snowboarding.

One of the arguable benefits of being in academics sufficiently long is to not be surprised when, upon idly searching for "dissertation procrastination" on google - a almost recursive procrastination activity for me right now - I discover numerous papers which are at the same time incomprehensible yet strangely familiar. I wonder if there is any way to let Mt Hood go "fallow" for a couple of years, such that people can take a step back and appreciate the mountain. I just received a tasty grant to go to BioIT world in Boston! The idea of being around actual software companies that do Bioinformatics makes me salivate.

So what the hell is there to do for 8 hours in Boston in Late April? Anything involving robots that a peasant tourist can take in?

100 pages of dissertation mark! Of which I estimate 75% to be usable!

This calls for a beer.
