32. The Mercenaries by Donald E. Westlake.
33. A Faint Cold Fear by Karin Slaughter.
34. Bridge of Birds by Barry Hughart (Part One of the Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox). At the end of Odyssey our class put together a list of recommended reading, three from each student. I think it was unnamed_horror who put this on the list. It only took me thirteen years, JoAnn! The Subterranean Press edition is gorgeously put together, but full of typographical errors. It's still a hell of a lot of fun; hilarious, mythic, and unexpectedly moving. It's kind of like if Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser were much nicer guys, lived in someplace that's not quite ancient China, and were even better at stumbling into trouble. Deathtraps and love affairs and giant invisible monsters, oh my!
