I made it safely down south and am at least partially moved into the new place. Will be assembling the Ikea furniture tomorrow and then I can finally really unpack (and get all my stuff out of the living room, which I'm sure will be a relief to the new roomie). Yesterday Christine and I headed up north to pick up my new car. I got a blue Honda Fit (it's so cute and shiny). Yay for combination birthday/graduation presents. I in many ways regret that I will need a car, but Southern California doesn't seem to function any other way. So I have just entered into an awkward transition phase where I am technically unemployed and homeless. Happily this is only for a week or so. The new girl, Libby, who is taking my apartment and my spot in lab moved in yesterday (kinda?). So after going up to Best Buy to snag a new GPS unit, Christine and I happened on an Estate Sale. She got a really cute tea cup and saucer set and I snagged a large box of eyelet lace edging for $5. Peter successfully graduated on Sunday. As usual, graduation ceremonies are incredibly boring. The speaker was pretty good and the student speaker was rather funny, but the whole thing was too long. I am currently sitting on a couch in my brother's living room. He's graduating tomorrow so I'm up in Portland for the weekend to see him walk and to see the folks. As the weather was beautiful today I wandered over the the San Francisco Botanical Garden and took pictures of flowers. There were a lot of people in the garden today, which was nice to see. Also swung by Green Apple to snag some more books. It was a nice morning. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
