Grand irony of the day: I'm en route to a wedding in Philadelphia, but decided to tack on an extra day and fly to NYC because it was cheaper, see a friend, do a bit of research, and come down tomorrow. I'm hereby starting a contingency plan. I ask you, if I don't get a teaching job down the line, what should I be.

For example, I could be a shower coach. I'll stay with you while you clean yourself to give you the drive and focus you need to have the best and most-productive shower you can. A deeper clean.

What else can I do?

I am now the proud owner of a Ann Arbor Film Festival guide with Don Hertzfeldt's signature. They had a retrospective and Q&A with him last night, which was phenomenal. Three glorious days of dancing here in Ann Arbor. There's few musicians I'd rather have than The Latter Day Lizards, who are incredibly versatile. After 5 drafts (the fifth coming less than 24 hours after the fourth), my dissertation prospectus has been given the acceptable status by my co-chairs. I assume there will be more that I have to do (not to mention write the dissertation), but this is a delight.

Now, I get the weekend off to dance and play host to playfulfordian!

This week has been surprisingly full of things. Aside from the usual, I had to present in class, which was only a small disaster on account of the person presenting before me raising the issue I meant to raise, and the also annoying problem of liking the text (it's easier to start a discussion around a disagreement).
