On Feb. 27 we spent the day in Florence. WE saw the Uffizi Museum--Botticelli's works were my favorite!!! We also saw the Dom Cathedral, Santa Maria de la Croce, and we shopped for cheaper religious items. I found a Madonna of the Streets picture! We arrived in Prague on Thurs night and stayed in the Hotel Imperial (a youth hostel that was really nice and relatively cheap). On Friday we walked around the town and window shopped, went to St. Nicholas' Church, the Infant of Prague shrine, the Cathedral by the castle, then headed back to the I of P for mass at around 4 pm. This next weekend I am planning to go to Vienna. I missed St. Stephen's Cathedral last time and I also want to see the summer palace of the Hapsburgs. I want to see the ballet Cinderella while I am there (it is playing on Thursday night at 8 p.m.) and go to the Vienna choir boys mass on Sunday morning. Traveling is so much work! I roomed with a totally new group of girls that night. I roomed with Laura from the Handmaids, wendy from SOL,and Kelly from Totus Tuus. We had a really nice room. We stayed in a retreat house not far from the church. We got a room with our own shower. WE all had a lot of trouble with the shower head though b/c there was no place to put it! it ( Read more... )

We then drove to Birkenau. It was so empty. It looked just like they portray it in the movies. It was just a bunch of land surrounded by barbed-wire fences probably 20-30 ft high.
