DH Predictions

Jul 14, 2007 21:10

My insights are not particularly, um, insightful. In fact, I'm probably dead wrong about these things. But hey, I like making a fool of myself. ( My predictions for Deathly Hallows )

Snape will not die but will instead end up in a passionate lifelong threesome with Hermione Granger and Lucius Malfoy.

Oh wait -- I'm thinking of the Exchange.

Sorry.

*giggle*

And I'm really okay with any number of the Exchange stories actually taking the place of DH as my personal version of DH. :-))

Snape certainly has a happier ending in most of the exchange stories, doesn't he? ;-D

I'm woefully behind on the exchange; I've only read the stories on the first page of the masterlist. But I've heard that "Pushing the Envelope" is a very good one. I'm looking forward to reading it!

Now, there would be a way for Rowling to declare that she's not writing for children! ;-D

I was surprised to see so many HG/SS/LM stories in the exchange. I read snarkypants's and lillithj's stories, and they were very well done. But I have to admit that I'll always prefer SS/HG alone.

I'm not even messing with predictions...it's too messy in the end.

However, I felt the need to comment on: But hey, I like making a fool of myself. All I really need to say is: Of course you do, you are a teacher!! It's in the job description of a "good teacher."

*snerk*

How true! ;-D

Hope you enjoy the seventh book!

My personal opinion on the whole making a fool of oneself is that if you are afraid to do so, as a teacher, you will never really get through to the kids. They respond better to those teachers who they know are human too, not perfect in everything they do...if you know what I mean. If you say, 'OK, let's see how big a fool I can make of myself as I try something new' you'll have a better relationship with the students which will result in the kids making more of an effort to please you.

As for book 7, I just wish I didn't have to leave the following morning for a conference. I'm going to have no real time to digest before I'm up to my eyeballs in new and important information..*le sigh* I guess I'll just have to read it twice...if I can get it away from hubbikins and squidlet...

Good points about teaching. In my very limited experience, I've seen how the students open up when I'm willing to go out on a limb and try something different. Also, when I act like a fool by singing (and I have a bad voice) something that's related to the text ... they love seeing me humiliate myself. ;-D

You sound like such a great teacher.

Sorry about the conference! I'll be at a wedding in California, and because of various things my DH and I have to do that Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, I won't be able to read the book until Tuesday. I keep telling myself it's only three days ... but oh, three days!

I haven't been paying all that much attention to what's been announced to be in DH...I didn't know that a student was supposed to be returning as a teacher, or that someone was going to be able to produce magic late in life...is there a place where these expected things are listed?

My only prediction is on the deaths. Two main characters was what I heard...and when I heard that, I wrote down the names of the people that I thought would die, and put them in a sealed envelope to be opened after I read the book. Unfortunately, I don't really remember what I wrote down, or where I put the envelope. *ponders* I think my guess was Snape and Neville. I hope I'm wrong...but I see Neville as a somewhat tragic figure...so I'm expecting him to bite the bullet...and Snape is a given...if only because if I'm expecting the worse (not only is he going to die...he really *is* evil) so that no matter what happens, I won't be all emotionally shattered.

I don't know if there's one place, but I've tried to keep up with Rowling's interviews over the years, and she's mentioned the student-turned-teacher and late-to-magic ideas in these interviews. (The Floo Network's Quick Quill Quotes section is great for reading all of the interviews. The site has the interviews organized by person - so if you want to read everything Rowling's said about Snape, for example, it's easy to look up - magical device, place, etc.)

I love that you sealed your guesses in an envelope! I hope you're wrong about both guesses. But you're probably not. :-(

Hope you enjoy the book!

What do you think about the possibility of Peter dying to save Harry? I'm thinking there's a lurking implication of debt from Harry saving his life in the Shrieking Shack back in PoA.

Do you think there absolutely has to be a Weasley death? We did, after all, have the maiming of Bill in HBP and the near-death of Arthur in OotP. Isn't that enough? And I think Percy will reconcile with his family. I can't envision JKR leaving that thread hanging.

On Moody dying... maybe. But can't you see him as the next Minister of Magic? OK, maybe not.

You're right. Peter has a life debt to Harry, and JKR said this was still important (meaning it had better show up now, yeah?). I think Peter will repay that debt by dying to save Ron. It's my pet DH crackpot theory.

Remember in PS/SS when Scabbers!Peter attacked Goyle on the train? That could have just been a device to make us wonder how the rat understood English, but I think it may point to a more important defense of Ron in this book.

I would like to see the Weasleys remaining intact, though I admit I'm nibbling my nails over the matter.

Oh! You may be right! I'd forgotten how much time Peter spent as Scabbers in the care of the Weasleys. Food for thought...

Snape loved Lily; he is good; he pre-arranged to kill Dumbledore; he will die (however much I don't want him to)

Hagrid will die because I can't believe she'll kill off the threesome.

And I hope that Rowling won't have Harry kill Voldie with love. :(

Hey! It's great to see you around here!

And I hope that Rowling won't have Harry kill Voldie with love. :(

Yeah, that would probably come off as cheesy. Oh, I'm getting nervous ... I wonder what will happen!

Hope you have fun reading the last book.
