I have been considering getting an email program for use on my desktops, but not sure which to go with. There are a few free ones out there, but am rather iffy on those. And I rather not pay for yet another M$ product if I can help it ( Read more... )

I use Thunderbird for e-mail that comes through my ISP account. My other e-mail is web-based Mail.com

Yeah, that is one of the main problems with what I want to do. Seems like there is not a program out there that isn't bloated with some kind of mal/spy/crap ware anymore.

You can use gmail to import email from other service providers via pop3.

I rather not do that, which is part of the problem. Especially since I have several gmail accounts.

The best email client remains Outlook, if you want to keep email local on your Windows PC and Thunderchicken is a no go, that is your only viable option...

Can't help you there, I still use the last free version of Eudora (From when they finally cut the ad-supported ties.), it's creaky, but stable and functional. Dunno if you can still get it though.
