baby steps
I'm making progress in the right direction these days, mostly at least. Today, I got 2 dump trucks full of sand delivered to my front yard. It's to replace the stuff under the house that got washed away. Most of it supports the front door and porch. People are supposed to come either tomorrow or Friday to start filling it in by hand. Da house
I arrived back home to find the power, water, sewer, and internet fully working. The internet completely surprised me, and I was thankful for it. The house itself weathered the storm with flying colors. No water inside at all, and only a tiny bit of damage to the front where some piece of debris pierced a wood slat. Galveston city management sucks!
Ok, I'm royally pissed off right now. A couple days ago, the mayor rescinded the offer to allow residents onto the island to look at their houses, check out the damage, and then return home before 6pm. That was a wonderful offer, but VERY poorly executed since she did it last minute, and didn't really think of the gridlock it might cause. Today ( Read more... ) -

I'm in Dallas now. I drove up here yesterday afternoon. My nephew is a sweetie. He apparently like to stare at me, and doesn't want to do anything his mother tells him to if I am in the vicinity (it's only the 2nd time he's seen me). hanging in there
since I've had several people wondering, I'm still hanging in there. I have absolutely no word on how my house faired. I'm optomistic that I just got flood water in the first floor of the house. I'm preparing myself for a tree falling on it as well. UTMB reports that they won't have power for 2-4 weeks. That is supposed to be the first entity ( Read more... ) -
simple things
It's apparently been ages since I've actually posted anything, so I'll start with the simple and now: My secretary and I just did a little dance outside my office because we found out we don't have to come in to work on Friday due to Ike.
