I am writing to you on the last day of classes, of the last year of school, of the last school I will attend as a student. The Charge to the Class of 2008 was given Wednesday, and Commencement itself is May 18th. I know that even though the period of youth I had for this learning and discovery has ended, more adventures await me.

 Sometimes I forget the past is real, and need to go back to the pictures and photographs to understand it.  By the time the sun sets on this weekend, I will remember.

"You were my youth; I was a footnote.  It's funny how two lines intersect and diverge."

The celebration was great; the celebration is over.  I now go forth to start another year of life -- with a hangover.

"Everyday I wake, I tell myself a little harmless lie:
The whole wide world is mine."

Nora died today.  I walked with her into the white room that was her final destination in this life.

I never had a little sister, but in a way, she was mine.  At times when I didn't have a friend to turn to, Nora was my friend.  Yesterday she loved me unconditionally.  Today she is gone.

Today I caught about 30 minutes of Jarhead on TV in between errands.  I've never seen all of it, but in part, it's a fitting tribute to the fine, time-honored tradition of being fucked over by women.  (Sorry female readers!)  =)
