Dude, this is like the most awesome thing ever! I agree whole-heartedly with so much of your commentary; I'm so with you on the canon-support for Robin harboring feelings for Barney that's she's basically denialed into oblivion because a.) she hates being that vulnerable in the first place and b.)can't even imagine him wanting a relationship. The 'it's Barney' scene I thought was such a perfect, subtle way for them to show that. Like, she had a moment of introspection and considered saying yes for 2.5 seconds before her rational side shut it down.

I mean, the end of Shelter Island? That was such a move on her part. And the way she's like so relieved and happy to see him when he opens the door? Yeah Scherbatsky, not at all obvious.

By "this" I mean the fact that Marshall & Lily aren't going to "get" Barney & Robin's relationship AT ALL. They're not going to understand why they don't do "coupley" things and prefer to remain mocking people who do.This is what I'm most excited for during the inevitable Barney/Robin. It's going to ( ... )

You're so right about Shelter Island! I feel like she just had a kind of crappy long day(she even says that) so at that moment she was just like "fuck it" and wanted to do something that would make her happy (spending the night with Barney) regardless of the consequences. Her defenses were down right then and she didn't care about all the reasons it didn't make sense.

Oh yes, definitely. I kind of hope that 'there's more than one way to be in love with someone' will be a major storyline all throughout s5. It'd be wonderful of them to show that Marshall & Lily's relationship isn't the only kind of successful relationship you can have.

THIS IS THE BIGGEST MOST WONDERFUL SPAM EVER. I seriously have had this open for about an hour looking/reading it off/on. Now I must watch again and notice all these things.

THANKS! Yea, what I love about Barney/Robin's whole relationship is that there's so many things that you don't notice on your first viewing. So when you go back and look at it you're like "...wait!"
I mean, think about how we didn't know that Marshall knew about Barney's feelings for the entire season! I bet he was looking for Robin's reaction to Barney even before I noticed it.
And now that I'm thinking about the season from Robin's POV a lot of things she's said have a totally different meaning! It's awesome.
lol, it's almost like when you're re-watching Lost (just to a less obvious extent, clearly).

Wow, this is like best picspam ever.
Your analysis on brotp are spot on. I feel the same way.
Sigh, these two. They make my heart all happy.

Thank you for the picspam :)

Thanks! I love that there's so much deeper meaning with this show and that it really causes you to "think" about things after your first watching!

Great picspam! And I totally agree with your theory on Robin. I think when they slept together last season, it felt like it *meant* something, but because it's Barney, she would think that it didn't mean anything to him and that she'd be an actual crazy person to even contemplate it. So it's just deny, deny, deny.

+ She's being totally honest here. There is no Mosbying going on. I mean, Ted doesn't even Mosby this awkwardly. ha. Yeah, I kinda thought this, too. Her body language/tone/demeanor is completely different from when she was Mosbying him on the roof. Plus, like you said, when she says "What?" she's taken aback because she thought they were having an honest conversation, and now he's reverting back to wanting to just be friends. Also, I can totally see her deciding to put herself out there because he was being completely honest and vulnerable, and she knows that he just doesn't do that kind of thing ( ... )

Yup, precisely. Barney really seemed to show with the "troubling" line that he can be more than just "Barney". Of course she always knew this, because he does show his vulnerable side from time to time...but for him to really say it like that probably meant a lot to her.

I do worry about Ted too. I mean, even though Barney/Robin won't be all obnoxiously coupley about it or ever make him feel left out, it'd still be weird for Ted just knowing all of his friends have something that he wants so badly. It's funny that Barney and Robin found the kind of love that Ted's been looking for (albeit different in a lot of ways) without even looking for it.
Back in s2 when Barney was the 5th wheel I kind of felt bad for him at times. And he wasn't even looking for a relationship. Putting Ted in that position is a little bit sad.
