BASICS
Name/Nickname: El
Age: 20
Likes/Hobbies Reading, Writing, very amateur photography and graphics, Walking, Sci-fi & fantasy geekery (with bonus shipping, slashing and feminist critique), Varied Film, TV and Lit geekery, History & archaeology, Rock music, Politics, Political figures and the mocking thereof. Talents: Can Sing, Dance and Act a very little (you may even have heard of where I'm from), able to play about 3 notes on Guitar, keyboard and recorder, reading very quickly, relaxed distance swimming, remembering random useless facts. Quite good at Archery, rubbish at Fencing.
Dislikes: Losing skills, kitchen catastrophes, my appalling grasp of languages, bigots, lack of sleep, bad science, incorrect use of statistics, flawed research methods, bad grammar, hypocrisy (in anyone other than me). Dirk Benedict and William Shatner being unprofessional/impolite. Early Riker. Wil Wheaton bashing.
THE PERSONALITY PART
Strong points: I'd like to say that I'm kind, generous, sympathetic and helpful (in general), modest, rational, accommodating and a useful somewhat amusing person to have around. I hope I'm principled without being too judgmental or stubborn and willing to give most things a try.
Weak points: Time management, trying to be polite and ending up two-faced, being a mite socially awkward and ending up rude, epic procrastinating, organisation, a really potty mouth, punctuality, motivation.
What do other people see you/describe you as?:
Mature, cynical, GSOH, disorganised, sensible, opinionated, knowing big words (like vocabulary), intelligent, crap time-management, antisocial, shy, professional, stoic.
EITHER OR
Add "why?" if at all possible.
Mature or Immature?: Mature (mostly)
Leader or Follower?: Follower - I like offering advice in the background and someone telling me what to do in a crisis. telling people that they're just WRONG and that it has to be done PROPERLY (my way) works too though.
Outgoing or Shy?: Shy
Confident or Modest?: Modest
Safe or Risky?: Safe. You should always use protection.
Optimistic or Pessimistic?: Pessimistic. (Work out the worst case scenario and plan accordingly, that way if you're surprised it will be nice not nasty)
Realist or Idealist?: Idealist
Low, medium, or high energy level?: Low/Medium (discounting caffine/sugar overdose and squee-age)
Listener or Speaker?: I try to balance both -but I think it comes down on Speaker.
Serious or Playful?: Playful
Impulsive or Cautious?: Cautious
IN STAR TREK
So the Enterprise has been invaded by an outside force and is being threatened unless the captain surrenders the ship. (What else is new?) What would your reaction be in this situation? Would you panic? Probably (but I'd know where my towel was).
So now they've got you captured and are threatening you. It's either spill the beans about the secrets of the Enterprise or be killed on the spot. How long does it take for you to reach your breaking point? (Do you have one?) Then there would be panicking, and the panicking would delay the breaking - maybe 15 mins to half-an-hour.
And if you were on a ship of some sort, what kind of position (captain, medical officer, security guard, etc.) would you be comfortable with? Something not too high up but not too low down, random bridge crew? medical or socio-cultural flunky. Secretary to the ships councillor? If it was the TNG Enterprise I might take Whoopi Goldberg's off-shift at the bar.
Anything else?:
I prefer Picard and Sisko. I liked Wesley AND Janeway. Watching the new film with me as a newbie must have been really really irritating.
