- I have an animus to the word "paradigm." My professor used this word approximately 100 times during class today. Every time she used it was like listening to fingernails on the blackboard. On the plus side, the rest of the class was merely tedious, not painful.

Why I love the World Cup
I'm not a big soccer nut or anything, but I love the World Cup. This is why. Late in yesterday's game vs. Sweden, knowing that their team was about to win and advance to the next round, the German fans chanted this taunt: "You're just a bunch of furniture-makers." That? Is Priceless.

So, after work this morning I hustle over to the main library and eat lunch, because I was under the (mistaken) impression that I had class today. Turns out that I was looking at last year's syllabus. This year the class is Tu/Th. So now I have the afternoon free, which is a good thing because I'm really dragging today. Damn Mondays.

Who does this?
I'm generally a pretty even-tempered sort of person, but I've found another thing that makes me very, very annoyed- writing in library books.
I can understand writing in your own books (I generally only write in textbooks, but I know lots of people who write in novels). But who thinks it's acceptable to write their inane comments in books that they ( Read more... ) -

Have finally managed to become gainfully employed in a library- I'll be starting next week at the Law Library, helping to process gov docs. Not very exciting, but definitely a step in the right direction.
Haven't been up to much else since I got back to Bloomington. Just looking for a place to live in the fall and reading a bunch.

Memorial Day
I'm leaving in about an hour for the airport so I can go to NJ for the weekend for my Nana's memorial service. I have to remind myself:
-not to get into political discussions with wingnut relatives incapable of logical discussions about contentious subject matters
