2014 - a new year, and as cliché as it is to do this at the beginning of the year, it’s a good time to look back on the year that’s passed on and think about what was good, as well as what was not so good. The first step to solving a problem is realizing there is a problem after all ( Read more... )

Same here.

The 30 days of sobriety really does help get it out of your system and show you a different way. But it doesn't cure. I've come to realize that my relationship with alcohol will go right back to the low point if I let it, and that the price of freedom is constant vigilance. Not eternal abstention, but knowing the risks and costs honestly.

So very right on almost everything else. Except for all the years we hung out, I remember you as a good-looking young fellow. If you've a few pounds to lose, so do I. But don't believe that you've always been an ugly duckling.

Glad you're still posting to LJ and keeping your friends apprised on what's been going on in your life. I wish you all the best up in a new location. Hopefully you can head up to Rainfurest and we can get together again!

Our lives have been on similar tracks, it seems - both externally and internally. A lot of what you've written here sounds very familiar - both in terms of the issues and the solutions. Best of luck to us both! And don't be a stranger, I can always enjoy talking to someone who isn't afraid of a paragraph longer than 140 characters... and am starting to grow tired of those who can't have a conversation outside of Tweet-able sound-bites. :)

I definitely hear you on the whole newer "bite sized" types of social media (Twitter, Facebook, and even Google+). While I've tried to get into them, I just seriously prefer good ol' LiveJournal for not only it's "simplicity", but also the fact that you can actually write out a decent amount. Even Google+ has it's limitations on things, I really hate how Facebook nags you if you haven't been on for 24 hours (reminder emails, grr!), and Twitter's 140 character limit makes things... Pointless.

By the way, I did read everything, and I have to playfully say it's nice to see someone write a longer journal than me for a change ^_^;;;

Good work on completing an RDI on your life as it sits. Now balance and blueprint everything, torque it all back to spec, get back out there and enjoy it. :)

Good to see you posting.
