The course on Sunday was excellent. Lots of practical, hands on training and a lot of knowledge gained. We went over the basics of determining whether a bone was human or non-human, and even got into estimating age and gender of human remains based on bone characteristics. Went for a quick motorcycle ride; just a few blocks really but the first ride of the season. Right muffler fell off mid-wheelie at about 90kph. I think that's the official start of summer :D

I had snuck into a casino and was painting an advertising mural on a concave curved wall. Casinos don't close, so there were still customers and staff milling about, but I had picked a quieter portion of the day and the rule of "if you act like you know what you're doing and belong there nobody will question you" was in full force ( Read more... )

Tightened up the last bolts on the home gym tonight. Three years ago I would have laughed out loud at the prospect of me bothering with a machine that only went up to 160lbs :/ Oh well, three years ago I was also a lot closer to weighing 160lbs than I am now :D

Forgot to mention, in yesterday's course we got to see the basic vital signs check used for real. Right at the end of the 'accidental amputation' training video, an elderly gentleman right in front of me toppled out of his seat sideways landing directly on his head.
