Chapter Forty-Two
Three months later
The sound of a door closing roused Zak from sleep. He blinked and rolled over, coming fully awake as he realised the other half of the bed was empty. A thin line of light glowed under the bathroom door, and he could hear the shower running.
After a few moments he flicked on the bedside light and sat

Good point, hadn't thought of that aspect. I figured they told him after the New Caprica settlement started, because by then everyone started to slack off and not care about the frat regs (at least that's the impression I got in Unfinished Business as Tyrol had got Cally pregnant while they were both still serving on Galactica and Bill didn't seem too bothered).
The final scene is just fitting. It's nice to see Bill happy and even being comfortable with celebrating the return of Lee, and all 3 of them enjoying a bit of quality time together as a family
I wanted to end with a scene with the three Adamas, because they are really what this story was about. At least they get to have a brief happy period before the Cylons show up again.

You have an amazing talent for running parallel to canon. Not to mention an obvious grip on your characters. I also think you did a fantastic job with fleshing out Zak and creating a new character in Emma that we truly cared about. Thank you beyond measure for this journey, Helen. You may go forth and sprog now :)

I definitely wanted to finish with the three Adamas, because that's been the heart of the story. And them having dinner meant I got to include the obligatory joke about Bill and his noodles. :)

Thanks so much, because that was the toughest part of writing this story - especially Zak, trying to give him a family similarity to Bill and Lee while keeping him a distinct personality.

Thanks! Unfortunately the sprog still seems to be quite happy where it is...

It was an awesome story from start to finish, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. And the fact that eveyone gets a nice happy ending just makes it that much better. :D
You did a brilliant job with this. Thank you for writing and sharing with us. *hugs*

Thanks, I do - and hugely relieved. There seriously were times I was struggling and never wanted to think about this story again, LOL.

Thank you so much, and thanks for reading and commenting all the way through. :D

Emma was a great addition, you know I was pulling for them a while back. The way you made us know and care about someone (Emma) who doesn't exist in canon at all and care about someone (Zak) who we know in canon, but only peripherally was wonderful.
Lurves you!
I actually held off reading this last chapter until after Bec's new chappie of Reparation cuz I was sure my heart was going to need some soothing! Thanks ever so much for providing that specifically and this interesting, involving, entertaining, easy-to-fall-into-and-get-lost story in general!
You da'bomb!

Thanks so much - writing those two characters was the toughest part of this fic, so I'm really happy that I did well enough to make you care about them.

My pleasure. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it so much.
