im not yelling at you.... 8_bittersweet_9 June 17 2005, 12:56:39 UTC
I understand what your saying. But i think you have to understand that 90% of the time the fun has NEVER been DURING practice. its come from the people you meet, the times you get there early/stay late and walk 38374 miles so you can actually eat that day. it has been those band camp nights where someone slips and falls on their ass on the way to the shower. it is that instructor that is short, pale like a leprachaun, and is WAY too pissy that you talk about in secret. its throwing underwear at the walls and having it magically stick up there. its dancing in the stands with your guard girls(and if your not one we are kicking you out). its that crazy make up that we get to where and look like monsters in. raawrrrrrrr. you know you like it. its getting to chill with alex milan inbetween school and practice and make those rather amazing food concoctions with just a bit too much garlic(oops).
its because alex milan will cry if you dont do it this year...

oh yeah, and because kate will kick your ass.

kate will kick your ass. alex is right, the fun is in between everything. rehearsal is rehearsal. that's never fun- specially doing basics. we are starting to learn show work this week. maybe that will be more enjoyable for you. ;)

Okay you two, I hate you both, jk. I understand that the fun comes inbetween the performances and rehearsals, but last year it wasn't really like that. Mr. B would have his days where everything had to be perfect and there was no talking but most of the time we got away with it. I didn't really dread going to practice last year and I actually showed up a million hours before to spin/talk to people. This year if I did it I would most likely hate going and if you hate going to practice then you wont really give your all. And according to mr. B.. you have to spin and march your butt off, saying that you have to give your all. I don't think I can do that.

so basically you don't want to march because you want to talk during rehearsal? AND... you shouldn't work hard to win, you should work hard to be good. This season isn't about being the best and winning- because you are going to be in a harder class this season. And I was going to tell you guys later in the summer to not get upset when we don't win everything because of that. It's about working hard to create a good ending product, not to win. At least not to me... As long as you guys look awesome on your finals dvd, then I'm satisfied... 1st, 2nd, 83rd place...whatever.

don't just give it up in the first couple practices. stick to it unless you're really, for whatever reason, forced to give it up. the first days of ANYTHING are always the worst. trust me on it, i'm the queen of bad-first-days. indoor sucked the first days. outdoorx2 sucked the first days. ballet sucked the first days. all sports sucked the first days. school sucked all the days. it sucks for everything. but the good thing is, is that it gets better. [there is an end to the basics!!] so don't be fretting so early on in the season. give it a good few weeks before you throw in the towel. pretty soon enough you'll be spending the time worth spending with the people worth spending it with, and you won't have to deal with the shitty first days. if all of the world was based on instincts, we'd all be screwed. and anyway, i don't want your beautiful butt to quit, and you love me, so you won't quit. :)

so that's my hoo-rah on "don't quit!"

Is that a threat? I don't know how much fun it will be for you because you have to play catch up...that's what happens when you miss rehearsal in the first place! ;)
