Not All Churches Are Like That martianmoons October 5 2003, 04:01:35 UTC
Find a church that fits with your beliefs, or at least lets the parishers make up their own minds! Nothing is worse than dogma, where people don't want you to think!

I totally agree. The problem is, all of the churches I have ever been to were the same. The pastor was corrupt, the congregation didn't let me form my own opinions, and everyone preached to me when I asked them not to. I am a very scientific person. I believe there is a god but I also believe in Evolution. One day I may find the church of my dreams. LOL We shall see. It is just difficult when the person preaching is my father-in-law who thinks he knows all.

Anyways, thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and if you got this far, my reply. I guess I am just in a mood and it makes me feel better that other people listen/read to me. Thanks again...*HUGS*

Perhaps you should taunt him back on how, Christmas is about slaughtering trees. And Easter involves sacrificing rabbits to god. After all, if you can tamper with ONE religiously based holiday, why not all of them? Halloween was about the last night of the old world calender year. A night when the spirits of the past were allowed to revisit earth. When the calender changed it was kept for more cerimonious reasons. Celibrations were served on this day to overcome the fears, enjoy the beginning of harvest season and bringing people together. The costumes were an early form of parade to entertain the children.

That is what I found out too. I didn't waste my breath explaining to someone so naive who will only listen to what his pastor tells him. It is nice to know other people share my opinions. Thanks sweetie.

Next time he starts preaching at you, you can pretend to have a seizure. That's right. Throw yourself down on the ground and start twitching an babbling. Then, I'll make you up a doctors note that says your severally allergic to ignorance and he's forbidden to speak to you and the children about anything he's not thought up on his own.

Love you!!!! I know you can stand up for yourself. And I understand completely. I myself am allergic to hypocrisy.
