I've heard of a couple of women who go down to needing almost no insulin during pregnancy. It's rare, but not unheard of. Lots of lows are common in the first trimester as well - around 8-12 weeks (didn't happen to me). Also, plummeting insulin requirements near the end of pregnancy can signal that labor is imminent or your placenta is giving out (depending on who you ask).
I'm 27 weeks right now, at the ER I wasn't having contractions, and the baby is moving a lot right since then which is what they told me to keep a watch on
From what I can remember, my insulin needs were increased by my endo in the first trimester (I think the reasoning is that at that point everything is forming, so they want you to be as low as possible). Then in the second trimester, my needs lowered - and with that my glucose averages raised a bit too (I think a1c went from 5.2 to 5.6). Then around 32 weeks, my needs increased again greatly and my a1c went to a 5.4. I've been told that needs increase in the end because the placenta hormones increase insulin resistance.
So, maybe at this point you are just at that in between stage......I'd talk to your endo, but if your readings are good and you are feeling healthy I would not worry (I know, easier said than done).
yea, I don't know about that! my rates doubled, but then again, I ate everything in sight and had a chocolate shake almost every day (not what I should have been having-- think that might be why I am still fat :P)
I have a new found love for slurpees.. I mean I always loved them but everytime I see a 7-11 I have to stop and get one.. I've gained close to 25 pounds since being pregnant, and I still have 3 months to go!
