I gave up Facebook for Lent. I cannot believe how much more time I have available now - or how much I think in snippets rather than lengthy thoughts worthy of a proper journal post. I so rarely have time for anything these days. Like Josh, Jacob requires almost constant nursing. I have a feeling this is more about my milk supply than about the baby's needs, but it still makes me mental. I sit on the couch and watch The Real World almost all day long. Jacob Douglas, born today at 6:46 a.m., weighing 5.6 lbs, with a mama who is very grateful for excellent midwifery care, and the grace of God, for having discovered that he needed to come out right away. He's here and he's safe and Damien and I are thrilled.  

As I am nearing the end of this pregnancy, things have taken a bit of an unexpected turn. On Wednesday night, my midwife and her student came by to do a home visit and talk to us about our birth plan. We want to have a water birth, and Damien wants to catch the baby. I'm stoked for this. Tomorrow I turn 35. That's 35. Years. Old. That's so adult, I can't avoid it.

And then I'm having another baby. With my husband. More evidence that adulthood is bonafide.
