HVW's New Cult

Oct 06, 2008 15:17

So, I've joined hvw's push-up cult. We're going to work up to 100 continuous push-ups within the next six weeks by following a pretty simple plan. This was a no-brainer for me, so today I did my initial test. I managed to do 29 push-ups. Over the next six weeks, I'll be chronicling my adventures in the cult here, though I'll put the next ones behind ( Read more... )

AHA! I am familiar with that 100 push-ups in 6 weeks thing. I am a skeptic. Considering that I can do 2, I really don't see how I could do 4 on day two and FIVE on day three. You are obviously way stronger than me so I bet it can work for you.

You can do modified push-ups! If you can stand, you can do a wall-based push-up. Simply stand in front of a wall with your arms outstretched. You should be far enough back that you must lift onto your toes in order for your hands to reach the wall. Then, do push-ups!

The point isn't to be all crazy, the point is to have fun while getting stronger. And everyone wants that, right? :)

Hmmm. I can actually so the sissy push ups where you are on your knees. Maybe I should start there.

I could do maybe 5 at the start of boot camp and 75 by the end six weeks later. And those were full, regular push-ups. I suspect the environment was a bit more "encouraging" than working on it on your own. I was also in my early 20s back then too so that helped.

Ooh, cool--I think I'll jump on this bandwagon, too, starting on a day when I've gotten more than three hours of sleep.

Mark and I have been meaning to give that a shot for some time now. No time like the present, eh?

Also, for ease of linkage, 100pushups == 100pushups, just like with regular usernames.

Ah ha. I wasn't sure about that. Thanks for the tip. :)

And yes, you two definitely need to participate! Cross fit is MUCH harder than this program. I'm sure you will kick all sorts of ass. :)

Wow this sounds like some fun, and I am in.

I just tested myself and I could only do 10 full form push ups *frown*

But it is a start I guess. This is fantastic as I can do it one the floor while the baby is crawling around.
