A word of warning (from someone who works in publishing, albeit academic) - read the contract very carefully. I've heard tales of new fiction authors being offered very dodgy profit-share terms where you're expected to share the costs as well as revenues.
My agent was pretty good at going through my non-fiction book years ago. Thought of all sorts of things I hadn't. Hopefully she'll steer me around any dire traps. Or am I being naive, here?
I have this sense of finally clawing my way into the life I always wanted to have. Took me a long time to offload all those expectations and cynics, but I'm getting there.
Ahaaa, will have to see if you spot my teeny AF borrowing (if it survives the editing-for-publication process). I did slip one in that a devout AF fan would pick...
