I'm here, truly alive and well. Vida Nueva was a great experience, one which I will never forget, but one which was tedious. It was an intensive, non-stop weekend of lectures and group discussions, new friends and strengthened friendships, and very, very, very little sleep. The last few weeks have been pretty incredible, and though I do wish I had blogged more, a lot was going on and I didn't really get to sit down and get it all out. Have been battling a bout of cold symptoms the last week which made forming thoughts kind of difficult, but other than that it's been a good few weeks. Well there I have gone, writing a fairly long paragraph that was depressing and meandering, but now I feel better and all those words seem foreign to me now, and I don't think I should post them. This whole week was campmeeting at church, and we went on all nights except for Monday night and tonight, and we decided not to go to any of the day meetings. I believe these to be the longest meetings I've ever sat through in my life, longer than even campmeeting three ( Read more... ) -
i can still recall the way we were.
The past few weeks have been difficult, with Cast starting up again and the whole audition process. We are cast now; I got Tzeitel. It's a huge role (fifty lines!) and I'm very grateful, but I still feel the weight of the responsibility of it. There's a sort of emptiness that filled the days after the casting announcement. It is 2010. Ten days have passed. It has been hard to gather my thoughts in these last few days. I started the new year by watching the beginning of The Two Towers, as I had closed out the year by watching Fellowship, and on the 3rd I finished the whole trilogy. Dress rehearsal went marvellously! I was at the bandshell twice before for a Halloween festival, but I haven't been there since I was about eleven. The only bad thing is that we can't talk at all backstage. Thirty (or more) teenagers (and some younger middleschoolers) cooped up backstage together for well over an hour with no talking is kind of ( Read more... ) -

Tomorrow is our seven hour practice; we're breaking it into two parts and in the middle will be Lawrence's funeral. It feels almost disrespectful to be happy tomorrow when I feel everything is dusted with a sort of unshakable somberness that I think may affect even our acting.
