Note: Highway 61 from Duluth up the North Shore doesn’t look exactly like it did when Ennis and David had their dinner date in 1985. In 1995 the road was realigned as a limited-access highway from Duluth to Two Harbors and the highway that they would have been driving on is now “old North Shore Road” or “old Highway 61” . The highway was also widened north of Two Harbors and the Rustic Inn was moved to accommodate the change.

Split Rock Lighthouse is one of Minnesota's most famous landmarks. A Google search will bring up plenty of photos, or view it at http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q135/talkstocoyotes/split-rock-cu.jpg
