So this weekend we tore down the ruined wall in the basement and replaced it.  Now we need to sand, fill in holes again, sand again, prime and paint.  From there, I can get new carpet and actually begin to put the basement back in order!  Sooo close!  Once the basement is back in order, we can finish the kitchen floor.  I will be so happy to have ( Read more... )

So my homeowners insurance is looking for every reason to blame the water damage on me and is not going to pay me a dime.  I'm going to have legal minds review the facts to determine if I have a case.

In the mean time, I'm specifically trying to add flood coverage to my policy.

Fucking water.

Thursday morning we woke up to 4 + inches of water in the basement.  Over the entire basement floor.  My carpet was literally floating.  Long story short, it was $1500 to get all of the water and sludge out of there.  And there are still dryers and dehumidifyers down there trying to dry the remaining water up.  AND it smells musty ( Read more... )

My dad is still at my house.  He was supposed to get into a facility yesterday, but because of his medical issues, it's been put on hold.  He needs a physical from his doctor with a clean bill of health before the facility will take him.  And his doctor can't see him untik the 15th!!!  And I know he's going to want to stay at my house until then.   ( Read more... )

Is almost done!  The counter tops look great!  And Jeff and dad were able to hang the new microwave yesterday as well.  The electric needs to be finished and the floors need to be installed and we're done!  Yay!  I can't wait! :D   It'll be really nice to put the rest of the house back together again. 

The kitchen is almost done.  We now have all new cabinets, new appliances, and new counter tops!  So, now we need the new floor put in, the electric insalled for the new microwave, and the new microwave hung on the wall.  And then it will be all done.  YAY!  I forsee the floor taking forever!  It's like pulling teeth trying to get Jeff to finish ( Read more... )
