A Grand Day Out
So I don't think I'm going to stay up late enough to watch the meteors tonight. 4am! I ask you! Justin took the kids for their first flight yesterday and they all had a grand time. I love cool, rainy autumn nights. I made a yummy dinner (whole wheat pasta with sauteed cauliflower, shallots, and thyme, with a splash of half and half and a bunch of gruyere. Sunday Morning
I love weekend mornings before Justin is up. The big kids get their own and the little one's breakfasts and play together while I have coffee and read, write, knit, etc. I'm especially enjoying this morning because I'd planned to take an early walk at the park but since Robin is sick, I canceled. I haven't made a pork pot roast in ages, so I asked everyone how they liked the one I just cooked. The kids whooped and gave it high marks, but Justin said, very noncommittally "I liked it. I think I'm going to enjoy Christmas this year
The pressure to spend is finally off -- I've been trying to cut back every year, and every year Justin acts like I'm scrooge but he finally gets it this year. So, we're doing minimal gifts, but lots of baking and decorating and cheap or free outings. And sending Christmas cards! I love that bit too!
