General Discussion

There needs to be some place to discuss non-fic related items. Discuss the movie, the amazing cast, the characters, Tom Hardy's expressive eyes. If there is even the smallest relation to The Dark Knight Rises, then go ahead, bring it up, talk about it and have fun.

The Man of Steel Teaser Trailer queen_subtle July 23 2012, 19:05:23 UTC
I felt this was the perfect thing to warm me up before seeing this movie. And to see Nolan producing it? I'm really excited!

Ok, so I was one of the very, very, few people who didn't give that much of a fuck about Inception. But, after seeing this? Anything with Nolan on it, I'm likely to throw money at. I'm actually inspired by his stlye, and I know for certain I wanna do movies now. :)

I am guilty of loving Inception to an exteme level, but that love stemmed from the cast, filmography, music and my adoration for Nolan (Plus it had a phenomenal fandom). I will say that the Batman trilogy is my favorite Nolan work, but Memento comes in a close second. His ability to pull together a cast that has chemistry and then continue to use them in other movies still amazes me.

I recently had a Nolan marathon watch with my other Nolan related fandoms and it's great to watch his movies back to back, because you get to see how similar his directing, his writing and the cinimetography. I will always firmly believe in the 'In Nolan We Trust' mantra and anything that has his name on it is bound to be golden.

EEEEEEE Tom Hardy gif! Have you seen him in Bronson by any chance. That started the love. That started the obsession.

The thing about Inception was that it reminded me a bit too much of this anime called Paprika made by another director I love, Satoshi Kon, who sadly, passed. But oh yes other than that, everything was pretty cool. I also read a recent interview that made me admire him even more where he was talking about how he preferred film to digital and how they needed to defend it. As someone who looks to getting into the movie/writing business eventually, this resounded especially with me.

Besides, I hate when there's too much CGI and stuff like that--makes the movie and the events seem so much less real. I can't connect when everything's overly cartoony and I like to feel things when I'm watching a movie.

Never saw Inception but in my opinion Memento is a work of art even if SPOILER ALERT!!!

if you pay some attention, not a lot, just some you totally guess the ending half-way thorough. That is not a bad thing, though.

Never saw The Prestige, but I really liked Insomnia. I always thought that if they casted someone else instead of Pacino/Williams (who were great, but I am going for a shallow comment) there would have been tons of slash fic.

I need to discuss my Bane/Talia feels! meowlina July 23 2012, 21:27:31 UTC
Okay, so many feels, but I will limit myself to just one thing (for now). I saw the movie for the second time today and noticed something. When Bane is in the stadium talking about the citizen trigger man, his eyes get all red and tear up. Well, as we all know, [SPOILER ALERT] the trigger man ends up being Miranda/Talia. Bane was overwhelmed by his feelings for her, y/y? Admiring her resolve, sad 'cause she's going to die...ALL THE FEELS HIT HIM AT ONCE.

~shipping it so hard with no regrets

Oh, lord, I will have to look for that when I watch it again. Bane, how could you be so adorable right after you have killed a man in cold blood? Bane inspires such conflicting emotions in me, and I love it so much. I choose to blame Tom for being such a good actor.

YESSSS. I have an awful crush on JGL's Cobra Commander, ngl. Actually, JGL gave me a slight crush on the cartoon version too, which is even more awkward. But still, best bad movie ever? I think yes. (Except maybe Sharktopus. That's a good one too.)

Sharktopus, a bad movie? HOW DARE YOU. Should have won all the oscars, tbh. I agree about GI Joe though. I'm like, this is such a terrible movie, but then I watch it every time it's on. But that's 99% to see JGL as Cobra Commander. (the other 1% is because Snake Eyes is awesome no matter how bad the movie). I will never forgive them for what they did to the Baroness character though. UGH.

You know what, I am sick of all these accusations of oscar snubbing. Piranhaconda deserved that award for Best Picture and people just need to accept it already. (Oh, that didn't happen? ... Well.) I love how you can totally tell Joe's having the time of his life playing that role, you know? xD Seeing him in uniform wasn't too bad either. But yeah, that whole love affair and ~mind control~ thing was kinda annoying. How to ruin your femme fatale character 101

For a fandom that's canon just finished/started, it's already a fandom with creativity spilling forth. So I want to know what are people's favorite pieces so far. I want to know what you favorite fic so far is and what piece of art amazed you.

So far, there hasn't been that many and I've only read a couple so far, but as of right now these are my favorites:

This Untitled and Awesome Dystopian Bane/John fic by an anon. It's non-con let me warn you, and it's a minifill but I like the fact she was able to fit so much emotion into so short a space.

Untitled Miranda/Bane fic by meowlina. I'm usually more into slash and the cruelty of Miranda really hurt me but it's an amazing fic and I envy her ability to display emotions so well.

and This JGL/Tom Hardy and Louis fic by an anon. I'm also not really into fluff but this so cute!

So far, we seem to be getting some pretty good writers here. But I'm really waiting for someone to write a Bane/Barsad fic since that's my OTP right now!

Haha, I know I'm waiting for some Bane/Barsad fic too. It looks like the love for that pairing is growing though from what I've seen discussed on twitter and tumblr. Crossing my fingers that fic happens.

Elegy, by kiyala was a perfect 'what happened in the cave with John Blake after the movie ended'.

Untitled, by maja-li Is the FIRST TDKR fic and is simply fisting, a Bane/John Blake fisting fic.

An old favorite is If You're Bad (You'll Die When You Die), by cathenian It was written back in May of last year, just after we learned that Joe was playing John Blake, when we knew virtually nothing. I was a cheerleader for this verse, back when it was being written and can surely say that it was my first Bane/Blake fic.

For the past few days, I've been rolling 'Barsaaad' off of my tongue at random points of the day and it just keeps getting sexier.

I hope a fic happens before I lose my mind. I'll be sure to check those out when I'm not looking at five hundred random movie trailers at the same time for no particular reason.
