Merry Christmas

Dec 25, 2017 15:18

Best wishes to you all, or at least to all of you who still bother checking lj. It is now Christmas afternoon. Food has been barbecued and eaten. Sarah has beaten us in Cludeo and I have played The Pogues. Just need a glass of wine to finish me off.

Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas, Bel! I'm glad the traditions have been observed and that it was a good day.

We're waiting for Eddie to wake up (how roles have reversed!) to open presents. Then hopefully the power will stay on so I can make Christmas dinner. We're having a winter storm with freezing rain (forecast to turn to rain) and the wind is howling. Gusts of 110 KMH.

I was thinking that about role reversal. When she was younger I had a "not up before 7 am" rule about Christmas day and now we have to wake her. I hope you survived the weather. It sounds awful. Our day was not especially hot and a bit drizzly.

I managed Christmas Dinner before the power went out! Others were not so lucky. I don't know what you do the next day with a half-cooked turkey.

Got a lovely bottle of Scotch, so it was pleasant to sit in the dark and talk as the wind whipped around the house. All clear and cold today.

I want to move back to colder climes but that sounds too cold. I hope you weren't without power for too long.

Merry Christmas to you! We had a good time discussing Australian Christmas traditions with our friend at our Christmas Eve feast. Now I HAVE to have an Aussie Santa (in a 'wife beater' shirt) for my Santa collection! :D

I had to look up "wife beater" shirt! So many Australians seem to go for the traditional Christmas dinner. How they can do that in 30C+ heat is beyond me. Sea food and barbecues seem to be more popular amongst younger Aussies. I hope you had a good Christmas and that 2018 is one of good health.

I wasn't sure if 'wife beater' was standard vernacular! My friend uses it, but she's lived in the US for over 10 years, so I know her language is contaminated! Yes, a day in the kitchen preparing a meal that is primarily baked (my oven is usually on from 10 AM onward!) doesn't sound like fun in 30+ temperature! Even in the deep south it usually isn't very cold for Christmas, but it's far cooler than your summer!

I hope you and yours had a blessed Christmas!
