It seems the company I work for just doesnt quite get the idea behind Labor Day, at least under current custom. I just found out that the saying "Paying through the nose" came from the Viking practice of slitting the nostrils of people that wouldnt pay the "Danegeld" tribute to avoid being raided... of course after administering the punishment, the raiding would begin...
