So, what is this game about?
Your characters've found themselves in a world that is itself sentient and preparing to slowly devour the world they come from. Travel between their own world and the Hungry World is literally a single step away.

How do applications work?
Each character comes from their unique continuity, where things that happen in one continuity doesn't necessarily happen in the others. Let's illustrate this with an example using a completely made up canon, The Bizarre Cases of Henry and Emiko. If two people apped in Henry and Emiko, Henry would come from BCHE-A and Emiko would come from BCHE-B. Henry would know his own Emiko in BCHE-A that isn't the Emiko from BCHE-B, and so on.

Why this setup?
To make it easier for new players from the same canon. Let's say that in BCHE-A, Berlin disappears. If someone was to app in Peter who just happens to live in Berlin, that would cause complications for their application and history section if they came from the same continuity. They'd have to explain how they survived the disappearance of Berlin, plus how it would've affected them. And that's only one incident. But because Peter came in from BCHE-C, they start from a clean slate. Berlin never disappeared, but something else terrible might eventually happen to their own world.

Wait, can I app a character that's already in the game?
Yes, with a condition--the approval of the other player of the character. You could, say, bring in Emiko from BCHE-D, but you'd need the approval of the BCHE-B Emiko already in the game, unless they'd already dropped. There'd in essence be two Emikos from parallel universes. Also, it's strongly recommended that you clear this with every castmate you can contact. The players of Henry or Peter might not want to deal with a second Emiko showing up.

What if I want to app from the same continuity as others?
It'd require the agreement of the players of characters from that continuity. Let's say that three friends wanted to app Adrianna, Brittany, and Melody all from BCHE-E. Since they all agree on it, they can do so and they'll share the same consequences and changes to their world as well as knowing the same versions of people in their own world.

How does time pass between the Hungry World and my own world?
Time passes quicker on the hungry world. A hour there might be a minute on the world your character comes from. It's up to your discretion what the time difference is, and that might not be constant. A week might turn into a minute, or a day, depending on what you decide would make for a good story. But time always marches on. It never stops. Your world's doom approaches faster while you are in it, but if your character's currently in the middle of a critical situation in their world, they might have to return there anyway to deal with it.

So you mentioned bad things happening?
Those will be plot events. There will be some events you can sign up for, revolving around bad things happening to your worlds or to you. And you can contact the mod if you want to run such a plot affecting your own world, or have an idea for something you want to happen. The only reason we ask you to contact us is to verify that your idea fits something that would actually happen.

Can other people come to my continuity?
Only with your character's consent. It is possible for your character to lead others into your character's world if they all hold hands while blind stepping. Your character won't know this at first. Some NPCs can follow you regardless of what your character wants.

What about other worlds?
It is possible to learn to blind step to world-continuities not already connected to other characters in the game.

What if I do something to screw with my canon's storyline?
Canons are not protected from alterations--you can completely change your character's future if you wish. There is no conspiracy of silence about the weird things that will happen to your world. Or not--perhaps your character has their reasons to want to take care of the problem on their own, or prevent outside meddling. Perhaps your world's suffering little to nothing in the way of changes right up when the moment when it gets eaten completely.

What happens if I drop?
Your character dies, and that specific continuity becomes inaccessible if there's no player character from it left alive.

What if I pick up a dropped character?
If someone else picks the character up, they come from a different continuity than the original character. (For example, if the Henry from BCHE-A dropped and someone decided to app in a Henry, that Henry would come from BCHE-F). If you are the original player, you can opt to resurrect the character you dropped, subject to the price mentioned in the next question.

So, how is death handled?
Death is completely at the player's option. There're always other dangers than your own death. By itself, death is permanent, but it's possible that some entity might take an interest and bring your character back for a price. For example, trading the life of someone from your world for yours, losing a memory, being bound under a geas to do something, suffering some twisted mutation. Talk with the mods to work out that price.

What if my character can resurrect people or is immortal?
Contact the mods to find out what happens upon a resurrection. As for immortality, that's fine. Much of the horror isn't based upon the fear of your character dying. A very few things will kill even an immortal (such as going down into a maw).

What if I want to kill another character?
Killing players' characters requires the consent of the attacked character's player. In-character, nothing will happen for small-scale murder, but attempting to wreck large-scale slaughter would get a negative response from the Hungry World. It has its reasons to want your characters alive. They are not good ones.

Why don't we just blow the place up?
Massively destructive attacks will get eaten. Literally eaten. But nothing will happen to the attacker... at first. Repeated attempts will irritate the Hungry World enough for something bad to happen. Small-scale destruction, such as blasting holes in the ground, will get no reaction.

Are any of my characters' powers altered?
Listing your abilities will be part of your app and we will tell you what would happen upon using them. In general, the only alterations would likely be to resurrection and reality warping powers but specific powers might merit special cases.

Is there any hope at all?
Yes. The ending of the game will depend on character actions.
