We made it until the hottest part of the summer. Last week the semi-permanent Azores high, AKA the Bermuda high, finally strengthened and shifted west and to a point where it can exert influence on the east coast. I swung a bat yesterday for the first time in at least 13 years. I hit the first pitch hard and didn't feel like I had lost anything. I missed playing baseball soooooo much, it felt so good to hit again, other than the several large blisters I now have because I used a cheap bat with no gloves. I was elected treasurer of our graduate geography project in the department on thursday. I ran against no one and was elected within 20 seconds instead of 10 because I tried to get someone to tell me what I might be responsible for.
