My good friend and co-author Karen is in the hospital, and Elisabeth is given to calling it a snake pit. She went in Wednesday, it’s now Sunday and she has been seen once by a doctor and once by a therapist. They haven’t done anything different with her meds and she is still suffering as badly as when she went in. We’ve been telling her to check

I'm sorry to hear that your friend is going through such a rough time. I hope she gets the help that she needs soon. In the meantime, I'll keep her in my thoughts.

Karen does seem to be doing better. They’ve made a very small adjustment to her meds and the first day after this change they are talking about releasing her either today (Wednesday) or Thursday. Karen says the voices have mostly gone away and that they don’t bother her any more. Elisabeth suggested naming the voices after extreme politicians that Karen wouldn’t listen to under any circumstances.

Thank you for your concern and well wishes.

Every time I walk into the hospital to visit, and am buzzed in through the locked doors, I can’t help but to think of how easily it could be me locked up there.
