A thought...

Ok, so I'm not really looking for argument. I just want to see what everyone else thinks about this.

When people rank each other in the dorm, it makes me really uncomfortable. I just really don't like it when people talk about who is better then who because of what they do or don't do in the dorm. Should I not feel like this?

It's probably better that you feel like this.

As a collective we make up the community of Mary Foust...

I believe we've each got our own talents/personality/etc to give to the dorm.

I am pretty uncomfortable about it all. I do the things I do because I want to do them, not because I wanted to get recognized for doing them, and that is a fact. Furthermore, as Megan said, everyone contributes differently. So in order to rank, one must decide which sort of contribution is more valuable, which is frankly just wrong. They are equally valuable and not comparable.

To be sure... upperclassperson selection is technically the sort of ranking of which you speak. And it's quite uncomfortable... yet, we only have ten slots, and they need to be filled with people who have displayed an ability to contribute in positive, active methods. They need to be leaders in their own respects... yet even within leadership, there are different methods of contribution.

You get what I'm saying?
