Caught the bus out to Kakadu National park very early - scenery was pretty (lush and green everywhere) but I was knackered, so slept through a lot of it I think. Darwin is very green and lush, especially compared to Alice Springs etc. We're here just at the end of the wet, so it has been pretty rainy round here recently. It's also very hot and humid - we spent a day lounging by the pool, eventually summoning up the energy for a little swim, then more lounging, interspersed with swimming. We got up early and watched the sun rise over Uluru, which was kinda cool, but still just a big rock as far as I'm concerned. Then we had the option of climbing Uluru, or doing a couple of walks round the base. We chose climbing cos it looked kinda exciting, and it wasn't too hot yet! We flew into Alice Springs from Adelaide, and the flight was awesome! I had a window seat, and spent almost all of the two hours staring downwards at the amazing terrain (I was briefly distracted by a delicious cake and a nice cup of tea - nom nom nom!). Lots more driving along pretty coastline - the beaches gave way to stunning rocky cliffs. We stopped off at the 12 apostles and the helicopters were flying again, so we flew over lots of amazing coastline.
