[Tony shakes himself awake, looking blearily around him. He'd had some type of strange dream. He had still been in Mayfield, but he had been with friends from home. Pepper was in his living room, drinking that godawful tea she likes so much for some reason, and Rhodey was sitting in the kitchen with his ( Read more... )

Just pick one and get it over with.

[Bazett herself does not care for the color of her clothing. Although if she were given a choice, she would not wear the garish clothing she currently has on, she has been forced to wear it out of necessity.]

The introductory letter should explain many of the basic precautions you should take in Mayfield. I would suggest that you return and read it.

I will do so, now that I know where to find it. Thanks.

Now! I'm off to find a good lunch. I seem to be eating alone though, which I find problematic. [He slides the sunglasses he found here earlier a little lower on his nose to give her a knowing glance.]

I fail to see how the lack of companionship for one meal would be so problematic. If anything, just ask one of the waiters to accompany you.

[Tony passes a hand over both his head and hers, because that hint just went way overhead.]

Yes. Because waiters wait on the balls of their feet for someone to ask them to share a meal, while they do their jobs. Let's reduce my odds of failure and split a meal, the two of us. Bill will be on me, naturally.

[Wait...was this man...actually asking her...]

Oh...um...I...I'll have to think about that...

[Several options are floating around in her head, occassionally crashing into each other. Accept his offer? Decline courteously? Punch him? Scream? Faint?]

Um...

[Tony casually buttons up his suit jacket and picks a few pieces of lint off of it.] Certainly. I hear it's nice to think things through before doing them. I tend to prefer flow-going, myself, but to each his own. I can tell you that there's nothing to be afraid of, I don't bite. I'll even give you an advantage: I'm awfully allergic to shellfish. You can order some and torture me with it's smell if I become insufferable.

[She stares warily at the man. He has gone so far as to give her his weaknesses. Perhaps that should be enough to trust him?]

Only lunch then...?

[And if he tried anything else, she would punch him.]

Lunch it is! This has been an acceptably productive day. So! I'll just need your phone number and favorite meal...

Um...

[The truth is, she has never had the need to call herself before, so she has not bothered to learn her own phone number.]

I am not sure what my number is, and we do not have much choices on food in this town. I will be fine with anything you choose as long as it is not too spicy.

No worries; I don't think I even know my own, full disclosure. Pepper takes most of my calls anyhow. Well! If you have nothing to do now, I suppose we could go ahead. Any suggestions? I AM new here.

...I have never been to any restaurants here before, unless you count the bar. I hear there might be something uptown, but I'm not sure. Also, there is a cosplay cafe at 1245 Willaims Road...

[Tony puts his shades back on.] Only cafe I've ever been to willingly was Starbucks. Never heard of "Akosplaig Cafe".

Cosplay cafe. It means a certain type of restaurant where the workers dress up in costumes that some people might consider "cute."
