The other day, a blogger I read intermittently said she really loved packing and moving. I had to leave the computer for fifteen minutes to avoid leaving a comment that a) called her a psycho lying liar pants b) advised her to seek therapy IMMEDIATELY for the sake of her children and c) begged her to come take care of our move, since she likes it

Sadly, I have no recs for you, because I tend to get my recs from you, heh.

And my heart goes out to you on the packing/moving front. Having never tried to do this with an active toddler, I can't even *imagine* how much fun your life is at this point.
Re: the car situation, Bone's idea has much merit, and even w/o Costco, I would emphatically recommend the e-mail-based car-buying system, as outlined here. (This is a somewhat extreme version; other approaches are outlined elsewhere in the thread.) The great virtue of such an approach is that it entirely minimizes one's actual dealings with car salespeople.
And recs ... oh golly, I'm so out of it anything I'd have seen you'd have already read twice. So I'll just send much sympathy about all your hassles, wish strength to your sword arm, and hope to see you maybe next year at VVC?

Rattles and Beads by fizzbin (gen, TOS) is my ultimate fic to just cozy up in after a long or stressful day. It's sweet without being saccharine and celebratory without being maudlin.
Then there's rageprufrock and leupagus's D:, which is Chris Pine/Zach Quinto, but the real beauty is in the rest of the cast either trying to be helpful or trying to be left alone. This one is pretty much for days when everything has gone completely to balls and I need to laugh until my ribs hurt.
I'm no fan of moving either, so all I can say is I hope things get better!

I recced that one on my LJ as well. I was so impressed with it. High School AUs make me wince a little, and I've heard the "who wants to reminisce about THAT?" argument a thousand times, and I was really worried about what putting these characters into that AU would do. But a competent writer is competent.

So, two SG-1 fics by surreallis that always make me smile:
Alien-babies of DOOOOOOOOOM! (all sorts of WRONG) - the fic that had likethesun2 and I randomly shouting “I had your ass-baby, you ungrateful lout!” at each other for weeks.
Face-Off where Jack O'Neill learns that just because they're good at defeating aliens, it doesn't mean SG-1 is good at hockey.
