I sometimes find it funny that even we men of science have our superstitions. I suppose it's simply part of human nature.

You know, the 'funny pages' really aren't that funny.

It's turned out to be one those weeks. I think I'm going to take a small holiday this weekend.

It certainly took long enough for my books to arrive here. I do feel better for having a more complete library, though. I'm afraid I'm going to be rather absorbed in some independent research for the near future - anyone needing to see me after class, please approach me as soon as possible.

Well, as pleased as I am at the prospect of a gala, I have to say that the sporting event doesn't quite capture my interest. I'm afraid I've never been one for competitive spots. Though I did partake in my fair share of croquet matches when I was younger.

I'm not even certain I understand the rules of 'baseball'.

I know quite a few folks are rather displeased with this Career Week, but I'm certain the Dean knows what he's doing. And I'm sure exeptions can be made for certain circumstances. It would be rather unreasonable to think otherwise.

I certainly hope I'm not wrong.

I'm sure we'll all make the best of it. And it's only for a week.
