See, I liked "Eraserhead". You have to look at it less as a movie with an actual plot and more as an excuse to create this sort of atmospheric world and look how it affects your emotions when more or less nothing is happening, based on the different things Lynch does with camera work and sound.
My personal favorite quote was, "It was like trying to pull a steel cat from a glass jar."
It's not that I think David Lynch is a talentless hack--the first bit of "Blue Velvet" with like a guy watering his lawn and the sky and a firetruck is just great--but his subject matter doesn't really interest me, I think. The guy in "Eraserhead" was really just a prop masquerading as a character. If Lynch wanted to make an abstract film, why wouldn't he just go all out?
I can't remember any other Lynch quotes, at least not verbatim. I did discover, though, that the audio from Lynch's weather reports synchs up with virtually anything I'm playing on iTunes at the time.
