By this, I believe that she meant that our guts - i.e., our principles and beliefs - are so grotesque that when we discover them (whilst performing philosophy), we must struggle not to succumb to inevitable self-loathing.

I am officially settled in Canada!  The apartment is furnished, the fridge is stocked, and I am in the middle of "orientation," which could more aptly be termed a beerfest of sorts.  Needless to say, not exactly what I would have chosen as a means of getting acquainted with the university.  But I did manage to meet one or two interesting people, ( Read more... )
