... although you wouldn't know that from my recent LJ activity (read: total lack of) but I've surfaced now because today is a very important day - it's sparrow2000's birthday!!!
Happy birthday, my dear. Wishing you the best of days.
I get a really strong mental image of Colin Firth I do exactly the same thing!
I agree wholeheartedly with your comments about the monarchy. I don't think much about them (and sometimes I want to slap them) but I am enjoying the historic side of all the recent stuff. I'm not happy that all our police officers are currently not in my Borough, but are in central London instead (petty crime is up), and I have a slight issue with the expense of all this but I'm hoping that tourists will help it break even....
I heard that there were police from every force in the country in London this last week. Must have been an absolute security nightmare. That many heads of state in one city at the same time. I would not want to be head of the Met *g*
It is easy to get out of the habit of coming here. I tended to miss chunks of June to August, but seem to be getting back into the habit now autumn is arriving.
...but every time I hear the phrase "The King's speech" I get a really strong mental image of Colin Firth. I'm glad I'm not the only one! And I was nodding at your thoughts on the usefulness of a constitutional monarchy.
Hello, hello! I'm not dead, either. :D I'm doing much the same; reading, watching things, working, chatting online with friends and family. That's about it. Dunno why I never post.... Oh, yes, I do. Because almost no one replies anymore (i ain't mad), and it's a bit discouraging. Oh, well.
Weather has turned lovely for us, finally cool and autumnal, even though we're not *quite* there yet..... I'm looking forward to true autumn, and winter, very much.
I know. I think AO3 has taken over as the place people post fic, so they don't come here so much any more. You and I are not the only people who've disappeared in the last few years.
I'm hanging on to summer for as long as I can, but each morning seems to be one degree cooler than the one before. Today's max is 17 deg C (62/63 deg F). And it's dark in the morning when I get up. Sun doesn't rise until almost 7am. *sigh* Ah well, if it weren't for winter we wouldn't appreciate summer *g* She says bracingly.
I think so, too - mostly posting at AO3 but also, weirdly, Tumblr, which makes no sense to me. Equinox on the 22nd - whooooooooooo! I am loving me some cooler temps and autumn rain and frost. Soon, I hope!
Happy birthday to the lovely sparrow! I hope you've had a wonderful day and I wish you a year packed with good health and joy! I've got to learn how to do cool graphics!
Thank you for the lovely birthday greetings, lovely lady. I'm having a very mellow, lazy day which is just perfect and looking forward to a hopefully positive year ahead!
Yeah, every year I look at Maz's birthday graphics and think I need to learn how to do that, and then a year goes by..... :)
