In order to maintain my LPC license, I have to complete 30 hours of continuing education by next March. I have been looking around at classes and conferences and whatnot and they are all so expensive! I get some credit for the teaching I did at the graduate school (not my undergrad teaching though) but I am not sure how the credit works out ( Read more... )

I am driving to South Bend this morning (about a 2 hour trip) to have lunch with 7/8 of the women of my high school class. I went to a very small Christian school and there were 11 people in my senior class. So needless to say we were quite close. I cringe when I look at my resume because I look like such a job-hopper. I have had SO MANY short-term and part-time jobs! It's deceptive though because for nine years I was in graduate school and yes I had a whole bunch of different part-time jobs in there, some concurrently. But nine years I stuck with graduate school. There is a lot of drama going on here about the public schools. The state is broke and education is getting slashed right and left. We here in Chicago have been fortunate to have all-day Kindergarten -- the state funds half of that budget and the school funds the other half.
