Day 2 of this vacation was raining.  Not mist but a steady soft rain that slowly seeped into my gore tex jacket and any other "waterproof" bags I had.  I was cold and wet and half crazed when I arrived at the hotel.  Maybe even at the restaurant we stopped at before checking in.

Last week I went on a much needed vacation.  It was Trey's idea that we bike to North Conway in two days, about 60+ miles.  I am a beginner bicyclist and, despite twenty mile bike rides on the weekend, had my doubts about being able to do it.  But I was game.

I have sent out my application to join a community supported agriculture farm.  I am real excited about this.  Every Friday next summer, I can pick up organic vegetables from a farm down the road.  I don't even have to choose the vegetables, they just give them to me as a part of my share.  In some ways this seems easier to me.  I always choose the ( Read more... )

My friend Kara and I set a date to make salves.  She has some kind of powder that we can throw in while we melt everything that will turn the salve red.  My idea for a salve is comfrey oil with all the butters and beeswax with the red thrown in and rose essential oil.  I would love a red salve that smelled like real roses ( Read more... )

I was at a photography reception sitting next to a guy in a wheelchair.  During the artist's talk the guy started to pluck the spokes of his wheels in a melodic way.  Very beautiful music and a bit more interesting than the photographer's work.

Influenced by Sarah, I went into the mall today.  The mall always seems so stale to me.  Nothing truly unique there.  I really wanted to purchase a corset.  The problem was that I could picture what I thought it would look like.  I wanted it to be forest green, satin with geometric boning and no cups.  The sales people all asked me what I wanted ( Read more... )
