Yay, mum! Real Internet, at last!
My mother has finally taken the plunge and moved into the late 20th century: I signed her up for high-speed internet today! OK so maybe she had no choice: UofT is discontinuing their dial-up services, but it's still a step in the right direction. New Position of Responsibility
I have agreed to take on running the Dance Ambassador program of Toronto Lindy Hop, which is a non-profit organization that promotes swing dancing in Toronto. I had a meeting with the interim lead, and I'm a bit overwhelmed, but excited. It's going to be a lot of work up front, but hopefully when things get going it will run itself a little more.

wedding prep
My brother Laurence is getting married tomorrow. New experiences for me include (don't read if meat grosses you out):- getting a manicure
- having a full-body spray-on tan (to cover up "farmer's" shirtsleeve tan and pimples all over shoulders. I figured why the hell not give it a try, for once in my life I can say I tried it.)

Mattress Shopping Part 2
OK everyone, I made a decision. Thanks for your thoughts and ideas. I clocked nearly 130km on the car today visiting the Bay Outlet (which had closed, and required a 30km side trip) and Sears Outlet, but I decided against their mattresses because many were visibly dirty, and not much cheaper. Car nearly paid off!
