So I haven't updated in about a million years, mostly because I am trying to see all the sights in Siena and write papers and study for exams without exploding! I just finished my Sociolinguistics class (11.5 page paper in Italian, oral presentation, and "oral exam" that was a conversation). But I've unfortunately had a distinct lack of free time owing to actually having schoolwork (what a surprise--I certainly wasn't prepared for it, let me tell you!), traveling (and thus creating even more work for myself!), and volunteering at the public library!

 Sorry I haven't updated in so long.  I really don't have time to do a real update now, as I should be packing for tomorrow's trip to Cinqueterra (beach!).  Since I last posted, I have waited in a police station for five hours, been fingerprinted, gone to the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy, started my academic classes, and, as of today, been moved ( Read more... )

Friday we had a field trip to the Museo Civico at the base of the Piazza del Campo.  This is where the famous Allegory of Good and Bad Government paintings (LINK!) are.

Last Friday, I finally found San Francesco! It’s right near the top of the Hill of Doom. I really like the little park outside, and I want to study there when it’s not pouring rain (like it is right now). I went inside the Basilica when I finally found it (it was open because it was 9 in the morning), and it was beautiful.  I even paid 50 Euro ( Read more... )
