Regarding the Mist;

- It's still around, yes?
- Is it still possible to use it as an ingredient to manufacture those pitiful bloodthirsty puppets the mages? As well as produce monsters? Since they're the souls of Gaia not yet returning to the Iifa tree, ect ect. Not to say I'm planning to go on a cooking spree, but the information is good to know for conversation-purposes!

Silly n00b question: There is listed on the app something called a "starter task," but I cannot seem to find what that is on the rules or faq. Can I get a little clarification on what it is?

Just a little boost to get started in the game if you want it. Sometimes it's an item laying on the ground nearby to ask other people about. Other times, it might be a mini-event like seeing something related to the game plot, character specific happenings like an eidolon visitation, or craziness like being run down by wild chocobos.

It's entirely optional.

For FFVIII characters, what is the standard regarding Guardian Forces?

Unfortunately for the FFVIII kids, Guardian Forces cannot be used by them, unless they are classed summoner. The overall effect is that they are limited to the skill set of whatever class they choose, plus whatever special abilities they possess. For example, Rinoa is a black mage, but retains her sorceress powers, Irvine is an archer but can still fire a gun, and Selphie is a bard with all the musical hilarity that brings about but kept her Slots. Our Squall is a knight, but exchanged some defense and strength to attain a subclass as a red mage as a side effect of a game quest. He doesn't require a GF to use the red mage spells, but since it is a secondary class, it is quite limited in what it encompasses. Should a character choose to app from that cast, they could request to be subclassed Summoner, and have a limited number of Gfs/eidolons they could summon, but those wouldn't be necessary to access spells and skills or strengthen up
