With any other demon than Crowley, of course, this loss would blight those human lives; but with him...
I like that Crowley seems to pull this save on a whim, NOT from an obligation to his counterpart, that he has certain little self-delusions to justify his "good deed in evil clothing" and that he remains unabashedly on top of things, sleekly charming as befits the model of all other Tricksters.
He's always breathtaking when he's being the ultimate Mysterious Stranger passing through someone's life, whether playing poker per se or not, holding all the metaphorical cards and who, having bent the branch, glides smoothly and without explanation back out of that life.
