Ouch

For the first time ever, my husband (MH) is coming home early.  Unfortunately, its not good events and great luck bringing him back five weeks ahead of schedule.  It's an injury.

The Air Force has always mostly been the "Chair Force."  Meaning, a lot of the positions in the AF are technologically and mentally challenging.  It's not like the Army ( Read more... )

Ouch!!!
I am sorry this happened. He is going to go crazy rehabing because he sounds like an action guy always having to do something. Is it going to be hard for him to relax a bit when it comes to the injuries?

I smell a coming-in-to-manhood summer for your son!
You can breathe now.

On the manhood thing, he'll do it, kicking and screaming...My oldest wants all the benefits of growing up, with none of the real life responsibility.

Drives me bonkers.

Yikes. That sounds so painful. I was really surprised to read the physical description of your husband because in my mind's eye he was always a bigger fellow. How interesting. Sometimes I meet people and I can barely remember their physical description because their personalities are so large. My impression of your husband from what I've read leads me to think he must have a strong personality, too.

I hope that the healing goes well and that your teen enjoys the call to manhood!

I don't know if he has a strong personality..but he is a strong person.

He isn't loud, more stoic, thoughtful. He's a country boy so he can hunt, skin, cook what he kills. He knows everything about fishing, cars, construction (he, his brother and dad built the family home by themselves). He values his children, is loyal and very respected among other officers in the military, some of them officers in the military of other countries.

And, he is the "smallest" guy I ever dated. He's bigger than me of course, I am 5'4", but the first guy I ever dated under 6 foot.

My grandma, before she died, commented on that the first time she met him. She was very blunt. She said, "Tonya! He ain't nothin but a little feller. You need a man bigger'an him to handle ya."

hahahahahaha.

Too late, we were already married.

And she was basing the comment on who I was as a teenager....kinda well, big boyfriends were a bonus, saved my life a couple times;)

I love your description of him. He definitely sounds like a keeper!

Sounds like you would be in great shape if the power ever goes out.

My husband doesn't know the difference between a roberts screwdriver and a phillips screwdriver. Love him anyway though. But if the power ever goes out for good, we are probably screwed.

I just realized how ironic. We would be screwed but he knows nothing about screw drivers.

That sucks your husband got injured, which might require surgery.

That sucks your alone time was cut short.

That sucks for your son who will now have to pick up the slack.(Tell him to use his legs he don't want to have surgery, too)

That sucks for us here at LJ who will not get to read none of your articles because you'll be out canoeing and camping.

Well what sucks right now is his being stuck in the house and driving me friggin bonkers. He can't do anything because his chest and shoulder are so swollen.

I know he's hurt.

I KNOW it.

But I can't stand a man to just lay around. It drives me friggin nutso.

And when just about every move is painful, what else can he do?

Babysit!

I'm outta here. I can't tolerate the inactivity.

Tell YH (Your Husband) I feel for him. I've been struggling with a torn rotator cuff, nerve impingement, tendonitis and a cyst on my left shoulder for a few months now and damn it hurts. Mine wasn't caused by any injury, but a spontaneous rupture due to excessive inflammation, courtesy of my overzealous kamikaze immune system ( ... )

His shoulder is feeling better....not 100% but the tendon seems to be less swollen. He's back at work.

Good to see you!

I've been swamped. I will call when this quarter is over...probably later this week.
