Natsu Bate or the Summer Blahs

Squishing Aphids
On my balcony I am growing some blueberries, an eggplant, some kitchen herbs and some peppers.
Things have been blissfully bug free until yesterday when I discovered that aphids covered the area of the young peppers and their stems. I didn't have any safe bug killer spray so I went for the only other organic method I could trust. I squished the ( Read more... ) -
Big Fat Bees
Went for a walk to return DVD and get a sandwich. Saw some huge hollyhocks along Kanpachi(road) and decided to take some photos. Then I noticed about four different bees working these flowers!

Funky Bug
These are really old pictures. I was going through my hard-drive to delete pics to make more room and came across these pictures of a bug.
This is one of the funkiest bugs I've ever seen just wandering around loose in the world. It was about the size of my palm. Happily it just sat there on the road beside a car tire.

Pulled Pork and Mango Salsa
I'm getting together with some girlfriends tonight. We are having potluck. One woman is bringing paella, another is making a flan, a third is making caramel ice cream and I'm bringing pulled pork and mango salsa.
