I've learned that patience pays off.
I'd spent the day idly pressing the refresh button at ticnet.se, more specifically the page which sells tickets to the Police concert in Stockholm* in August. Or would sell, if there were any left. I've learned to appreciate the good things in my life.
I've been living very parsimoniously for a couple of months, since I'm going to Guinea (not the Papua New one, the Equatorial one or the Bissau one, but the "Just Guinea" one) for four weeks over Christmas and New Year for a dancing and drumming course. There's a three-inch layer of sluggishness covering your brain like dust in an abandoned house, and you feel that everyone would be better off if you just hid under the covers in your bed and read comic books for the rest of the day. I've learned that ingesting small amounts of washing-up detergent doesn't kill you.
The bottle of washing-up detergent was almost empty, so I put it upside down in a teacup and left it there to get the last drops out of it. When it refused to cooperate, I gave up and threw it away ( Read more... ) -
I've learned that there's coffee... and then there's Coffee.
There's a fantastic French lunch restaurant, La Place, in central Helsinki. They have one big table with maybe sixteen chairs in the middle of the room, so all the guests sit around the same table like a huge family.
